A trial of many years has

established the fact, that it is more effi

icacious in pulmonary affections, than

any other remedy. Its emcacy has now

become so generally Known, that it is

tjustly regarded in many countries as a

medicine of indispensable necessity. In Great Britain,

France and Germany, where medical science has reached

its highest perfection it is perscribed in domestic prac

tice, and constantly used in the armies, in hospitals and

other public institutions, where it is regarded by the at

tending physicians as the most speedy and agreeabl

rem idy that can be emploged. Scarcely any neighbor

hood can be found, where well known cases of diseased

lungs, which had baffled the efforts of the most skillful

and experienced doctors, have been permanently cured

by it. These results are the most convincing proofs of

the superior curative properties of this preparation; and

to them the authors point with peculiar satisfaction,

While it is most powerful against confirmed diseases, it is

extremely gentle as a medicmne

Scrofula, or Kings Evil,

IS A CONSTITUTIONAL DISEASE, A

||1 oorrnptioD of the blood, by which this fluid

becomes vitiated, weak, and poor. Being in

the circulation, it pervades the whole body,

SS WK may burst out in disease on any part of

£ ~ in the constitution, descending from pa-

W rents to children unto the third and fourth

I will visit the iniquities of the fathers npon their children.

One quarter of all our people are Scrofulous; their persons

are invaded by this lurking infection, and their health is un

dermined by it. To cleanse it from the system we must ren

ovate the blood by an alterative mediciue, and invigorate it

by healthy food and exercise. Such a medicine we supply in

AYERS

Compound Extract of Sarsaparilla,

the most effectual remedy which the medical skill of our

times can devise for this everywhere prevailing and fatal

malady. It is combined from the most active remedies that

have been discovered for tho expurgation of this foul disor

der from the blood, and the rescue of the system from its

destructive consequences. Hence it should be employed for

the cure of not only scrofula, but all those other affections

which arise from it, such as Eruptive and Skin Diseases, St.

Anthony's Fire, Rose, or Erysipelas, Pimples, Pustules,

Blotches, Blains and Boils, Tumors, Tetter and Salt Rheum,

Scald Head, Ringworm, Rheumatism, Syphilitic and Mer

curial Diseases, Dropsy, Dyspepsia, Debility, and, indeed,

all complaints arising from Vitiated or Impure Blood. The

popular belief in impurity of the Blood is founded in

truth, for scrofula is a degeneration of the blood. The par

ticular purpose and virtue of this Sarsaparilla is to purify

and regenerate this vital fluid, without which sound health

is impossible in contaminated constitutions.

Medical Advice.Dr. WmXDohertys Medicalami

Surgical Institute is becoming a sine qua non to the welfare

of our State and health of our citizens; ami his rapidly sprea

ding reputation, although it may excite surprise, is but the

signal of skill, and follows as the natural effect of such a

cause. We are personally acquainted with gentlemen who

had suffered for years under chronic disease.and who had ta

ken advantage of every available means that promised re

lief. but without surce-s. until they called upon Dr. Dohertt,

who. in an incredibly short space of time.has given them en

tire relief. It is gratifying to announce this fact, because th©

Doctor is a gentleman w ho seeks, not bj defalcation of other*

to establish his reputation, or to rear the superstructure of

his own upon tlu? ruin of anothers fame. The Doctor con)

ducts his Institute in such a manner that must be gratifying

to all his patients. He examines, advises, and recoinniaads

without charge, and the patient, after hearing his terms for

treatment, can accept or reject at pleasure. In no case does

the Doctor make a charge unless he effects a cure. This h©

is able to do, because he feels the confidence w hich long ex

perience ha* given, and no doubt the consolation which ap

pertains to that confidence. Persons afflicted with either a

enre or chronic disease would do well to consult the Doctor ;

at all events, it can do no harm, as for consultation he asks

no fee; nor does he insist on obedience to his advice unless

the patient places himself under his care. His offices are on

Surgical Institute is becoming a sine qua non to the welfare

of our State and health of our citizens ; and his rapidly sprea

ding reputation, although it may excite surprise, is but the

signal of skill, and follows as the natural effect of such a

cause. We are personally acquainted with gentlemen who

had suffered fur years under chronic disea: e.uud who had ta

ken advantage of every available means that promised re

lief, but without success, until they called upon 1>R.Doitxr.TY,

who, in an incredibly short space of time.lias given them en

tire relief. It is gratifying to announce this fact, because the

Doctor is a gentleman who seeks, not by defamation of others

to establish his reputation, or to rear the superstructure ol

his own upon the ruin of anothers fame. The Doctor con

ducts his Institute in such a manner that must be gratifying

to all his patients. He examines, advises, and recommends

without charge, and the patient, after hearing his terms for

treatment, can accept or reject at pleasure. In no case does

the Doctor make a charge unless he effects a cure. This he

is able to do, because he feels the confidence which long ex

perience has given, and no doubt the consolation which ap

pertains to that confidence. Persons afflicted with either a

cufo Or chronic disease would do well to consult the Doctor ;

at all events, it can do no harm, as for consultation he asks

no fee; nor does he insist on obedience to his advice unless

the patient places himself under his care. Ilis offices iiie on
